It is a matter for con gratulation that the state gov ernments and the United States government are In a fair way to adopt the slogan. It Is a good slogan for daily news papers to carry at the head of the column,"' ',, !.- p?m w t The soldiers' bonus bill which has been so long pushed aside, In congress by the tariff bill and other business, is now under consideration, and seems to be approaching a vote in the sen ate. Among the amendments offered to the pending bill, one which passed the senate Tues day provides for the application of the Interest on the debts due from foreign nations to the pay ment of the allowance to tho service niett. It has been thought that President Harding would veto any bonus bill which did not specify a reasonable means of payment. It Is not likely that he will veto a meas ure with this provision. o It appears evident th"at most Of the people of this country who are not dead set against him by reason of partisan pre judice" have come to admiro Charles E. Hughes for the pe culiar ability he has shown ia the position of secretary of state. Perhaps many of them have concluded by this time that it was fortunate for him and for the country that he was defeated for the presidency and OUR SERVICE . .
