Dewet ha a sister. The Van Dyke made third atop and the De wet their second, a few days ago. They went from hre to Bandon to gether. She gave an Informal address to the com pany, touching upon the preparations she had bad to make for ber won, I and the manner of life that was be fore ber In the mission field. Minnesota, visited here several weeks ago with her alater-ln-law, Mra. Anna Glendennlg. and went on to Klamath Falls to visit relatives there. She re turned tq Springfield on Thursday of laat week, and visited with Mrs. Clen- dennlng until Sunday, when her son- in-law and daughter, Prof, and Mr. H. A. Scullen. of Corvallls. came over and took ber home with them. Mr. Gtendennlng expects to accompany Mrs. Conley wtien she start for home, about August 3rd. Everett Griffith and family are re cent arrival here from Klamath Falls. They are living at present at the corner of 7th and B streets. Mr. Grif fith had two special objects in view in coming here. The high altitude of the Klamath Falls region was not good for his wife's health, and he wanted to place aome of his children In the university. W. M. Sutton, owner of the Sutton block and other property here, form erly superintendent of the Springfield schools and for one term mayor of the city, waa here for a day or two this week, looking after his Interests here. Mr. Sutton has been superintendent of tha schools at Burns, Oregon, tor ten years, and has a contract for three yeara more, at 2500 a year. They have a 10 months te:m there. The W. O. W. meets every Tuesday evening In their own home. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hafner came up from Portland the first of last week, and spent a week here, touch ing up the residence property where they used to live, on 5th street, be tween C and D. They returned Tues day. They made their home with the A. C. Travis family whirs they were her. Mr. Hafner painted the house throughout outside and Inside. It Is now occupied by L. M. R- post ol Springfield attended the body, anl had charge of the services at tbe grave. Mr. Langdon served In the civil wr In Co. F 81st Indiana Infantry. He Is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters. The sons are L. W. of Eugene; and G. W- of Colorado. The daughters are Mrs. W. Baldwin, of Eugene; and M -a. M. i. Jchafer. of Oklahoma. Mr. and Mia. Langdon lived ln Snrincfield several years, and were well known here. Lately they have .been living with the aon at whose home Mr. Langdon died. CHRISTIAN CHURCH : ALL DAY GROVE MEETING The Christian church congregation had an all-day outdoor meeting at Sunday achool were held about this central point There tbw teacher took their classes and arranged them on logs and whatever aeata they could find. After the sermon came a picnic din ner. In tbe afternoon, tbe congrega tion reassembled, and listened to a re port by Miss Clara Jone on the re cent state convention at Turner. Music was a prominent and pleasant feature of all the service s. About 125 persons attended. The church held a similar gather- "n " the " lac lMt expect to make it an annual affair. One drawback to the pleasure of th occasion was the lack of grass. On this account It waa suggested that the meeting might be held in the neighborhood of tbe Stafford school house next year.
