CLEANLINESS
In general Springfield's condition
a to cleanliness Is excellent How
ever, a few Instances of tilth have
lately been observed. Most people
are careful to keep their front yards
and streets clean. Out the alley is
frequently used at a catch all, and
at that never cleaned up.
Instances are known where the re
fuse from the kitchens, tin cana, trash
of all kinds, hare been dumped Into
the alley, there to remain until it
gradually disappears by the wear and
tear of the traffic or the elements.
This is the time of year when dis
ease easily takes hold and. if such
conditions are allowed to remain, are
likely to cause serious trouble. Clean
ing of the alleys ought not to wait
until the general clean up day, which
usually comes in the spring. They
should be cleaned up now and kept
clean. , - .
