People's Column
Sunday closing of Pictura Shows
Seven years ago this question waa
placed before the voters of Sprin
field and snowed under.
The question has been hashed and
rehashed and to rake out old argu
ments Is unnecessary. We must not
look at the emotional aide of the ques
tion alone. Yet ingrained In every
American, born or naturalized. Is the
desire for free speech and freedom of
choice.
Springfield Is a mill town. And
with this let us consider the effect
on the liberty and pleasure of the
mill workers. Sunday Is our day of
recreation. We do not own cars and
can't take trips like many who favor
closing on Sunday. Closing the
showa will not send men to churcb,
which apppears to me to be an effort
! to legislate people Into the church.
I go to church and still enjoy the
movies on Sunday.
Another question: are we, as a city,
progressive?
We now have too many vacant
buildings In Springfield. We certain
ly do not want more, which la my
Impression, gained from observing
the attendance of the picture house
on week days, would occur if the
house must be closed on Sundays.

I Some of the face muscles have more
than their usual amount of work to

side of your face growing smaller and
one side growing larger, it doesn't
take much of an architect to figure
out the fact that you will have a
crooked face if you don't chew right.
You cannot chew right unless your
