A FORWARD MOVE IN CROSS
COUNTRY AIR MAIL SERVICE
One of the new Martin bombers
has made the third direct flight be
tween Cleveland and New York city
for the pohtal service. The plane car
ried 840 pounds of mall and made the
trip In three hours and f!ft.vfive min
utes. It was piloted by Walter H.
Stevens and arrived at Belmont Park
at 4:12 p. m.
A comparison of the time consumed
by this flight with that of the fastest
trains between New York and Cleve
land will give some idea of the enor
mous saving of the time in the trans
mission of mail and express matter
between different parts of the coun
try which will be possible when the
plans of the government for a country-wide
airplane ninll service are put
Into effect.
AN EDITOR'S TASK.
Most any man can be an editor. All
the editor has to do is to sit at bis
desk six days a week, four weeks a
nfonth and twelve months in a year
and edit such stuff as this:
"Mrs. Jones of Cactus Creek let a
canopener slip last week and cut her
self in the pantry. Joe Doe climbe-1
on the roof of his house last week
looking for a leak and fell, landing
on his back porch. While Harold
Green was escorting Miss VioM Wise
from the church social last Saturday
n?ght a savage dog attacked them
and bit Mr. Green on the public
square. Mr. Fang, while harnessing a
broncho last Saturday, was kicked
Just aouth of his corn crib." Yar

DEPORTATION DAY.
What the people of the United
States want to know is when they will
have opportunity to celebrate "De
portation Day"; that Is, the day on
which the departure of a vessel bear
ing a group of 'conspirators against
government back to the lands from
which they came, occurs.
They are no longer patiently await
ing the answer to the question which
is in tbe minds of alL
They are thoroughly tired of talk,
and nothing hut talk, of deportation.

ACCEPTING DISAPPOINTMENT
A correspondent of the Denver
News wrltea: "Last Sunday an elder
Announced: 'Owing to a misunder
standing, the supply arranged for In
the absence of the regular pastor has
not appeared, consequently there will
te no service. The congregation will
rise and sing 'Praise God from Whom
All Blessings Flow' and be dis
missed.' " Christian Evangelist.
The kitchen is the most Important
room In the house from a health
atandpoint, says the United States
Public Health Service. Keep every
thing about it and every one In It
scrupulously clean.
The secret has leaked oM that the
real reason why the farmers were
opposed to the daylght saving plan
was that they could not get the
roosters to adopt it. Instead of the
roosters waking up the farmers, it be
came necessary for the farmers to
wake up the roosters. No farmer
relishes the task of going out each
morning while the ruoon la still riding
high in the heavens and cuffing a
barnyard full of roosters off the
perch. So there was nothing to do
but repeal. the law. . , . :
