at the home of Mrs. Fred Dressier.
The rooms were prettily decorated

business session the ladies spent the
remainder of the afternoon with their

FUNERAL OF MRS. SMITH
HELD TUESDAY AFTERNOON
Funeral sei vices of the late Mrs.
ft. W. Smith, wife of It. W. Smith of
Springfield, were held Tuesday after
noon from the A(ethodist church, of
which the deaccased had been a
iiifiiiber for many years. Rev. J. H.
F.bert had charge of the services, and
Rev. J. T. Moore preached the ser
mon Mrs. Smith had been In 111 health
for seveial years and passed away
last Sunday afternoon at 4:40 p. m.,
at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Will Emery in Portland, where she
had pone about three weeks ago.
The P.ebekah lodge had charge of
the services at the grave, Mrs. Smith
having been an active member of
that order for many years.
Ueuides her husband, the deceased
leaves to mourn her loss a son, Byron
of Detroit, Mich.; four daughters,
Olive, a teacher in the Portland pub
lic schools; Mis. Will Emery of Port
land; Liif-ile, a teacher in the Coos
Pay schools, and Doris, a high school
student at Springfield. All of the
children were home for the funeral
except the son, who was unable to
attend.
