Glover & Gox COOPERATIVE BODY AF FILIATES WITH OREGON GROWERS ASSOCIATION Umpo.ua Valley FruK Union to Sell Equipment to Oregon Growers Cooperative Association, The Umpqua Valley Fruit Union will cease to exist on January 1st. having voted unanimously, on Salur day, November Sth, at a stockholders' meeting, to sell their plant and equip ment to the Oregon Growers Coopera tive Association, and the Oregon Growers Packing Corporation, which are two bodies handling the fruit ot the Oregon Growers Cooperative As sociation. The association Is a sell ing body, selling at cost, and the packing corporation, which Is affili ated with the association, handles the plants and packs the produce at coat The plant at Roseburg Is one of the very finest In Oregon, being strictly modern In every respect The lot Is ideally located, near the center of the city, along the Southern Pacific rail road. The building is of modern tile construction, with two full floors equipped with gravity lifts and auto matic alzing machinery. The building is capable, when further equipped, ot handling a tremendous tonnage of fruit. J. O. Holt, of the Eugene associa tion, who will be manager of the Ore gon Growers Packing Corporation next year, which will operate all the buildings and parking plants bandied by the Oregon Growers Cooperative Association, was present at the meet ing, and told in some detail the methods used at Eugene, in handling their business, and in building up their enormous plant. C. I. ewls, or ganization manager, was also present, to answer qnestions asked by various members of the Umpqua Valley Fruit Union. With 1800 acres already on the books, and with the members ot the union showing great enthusiasm, the indicstions sre that within the next two weeks a very large Increase will be added to the acreage signed up in the Umpqua valley, on the books of the Oregon Growers Cooperative Association. The associstlon, on No vember 1st. had over 12,000 acres, snd 1t is now growing very rapidly. The Rosehurg plant is the first plant to be taken over by the associs tlon, and is probably the first of a dozen plants which will either be built, leased, or bought during the coming year, to handle the huge busi ness of the association, which may Veach the total figure or 15,000,000 this coming year. REVISED CASUALTY LIST H. R. Crawford, supervisor of census for this district, has an nounced that enumerators in the rural 'districts will be given four weeks in which to make their returns. The list includes 34.625 killed In action. Including 382 lost at sea; died of wounds, 13.955; died of disease, 33,693; died of accident and other causes, 5326; wounded in action, 215. 489; missing in action, 2.
