Cross, through its President, Honor
able Woodrow Wilson, Its Chairman,
Honorable William H. Taft, and the
Chairman of its War Council, Honor
able H. P. Davison, has called upon
all loyal and patriotic citizens of the
United States to affiliate with said
organization by taking membership,
and
WHEREAS tho week of December
17-24 has been designated by tho
aforesaid as the time for membership
affiliation, and
WHEREAS the State of Oregon has
been assigned the quota of 24,000
members; being 30 per cent of its es
timated population, and
WHEREAS to fuinil its quota It la

"When Mr. Laraway received word
that the store was on fire he exceed
ed tho speed limit, and upon reaching
the store ordered that front door be
kept locked, thereby confining the
fire to the rear of the store. The re
sult was the principal damage done
by the flames was to the clock room,
work rooms and building, thanks to
the heroic efforts of the fire laddies.
At no time did the fire or water
reach the main salesroom or vaults,
which accounts for the little damage
dono to the main stock. Our Insur
ance adjuster has made a satisfactory
allowance, and after careful delibera
tion we have decided to give our
customers tho benefit of this consid
eration. Consequently, Monday morn
ing at 9 o'clock tho Laraway stock In
its entirety was placed on salo at
fire sale prices.
