As a preventive of sugar hoarding, W, K. Newell, acting fed oral food ad ministrator announced Friday tho' now regulations which affect not only families, but hotels and merchants. Thoso rules aro similar to thoso passed by food administrators in other Western states and are far less drastic than thoso in offect In tho East, whero tho sugar shortage Is much greater. Following are tho rules which aro ' effective Immediately throughout Oregon: Sales to family consumers to be limited to $1 purchases. Sales to hotels, restaurants and boarding houses to be limited to 10 days' supply. Farmers living at a dlstanco from purchasing points will bo permitted to purchase In 20-pound lota. Sugar shall not bo used as a leader for special sales or to encourage Uio sale of other merchandise. All grocers are requested to report to tho federal food administrator, 401 Northwestern Bank, building, Portland, Oregon, the names and ad'j dresses of all persons attempting, J through misrepresentation, to pur chase in excess of the above limitations.
