It is safe to bet that the $6,000,000
state bonding measure will carry four
to one, and that the county bonding
measure will go through with a whoop;
-for the people of this county are over
"whelmtngly In favor ot a hard-surfaced
3hlghway through the county. And why
shouldn't they be In favor of these
measures when the highway can be
obtained with state and Federal aid?
Tlllamookers know a good thing when
"they i:e It, and no one need be sur
prised that they are all Jumping on
the right side of the fence. We an
tldJpate that those who are opposed to
the bonding the state and the county
lor good roads will soon be advancing
the argument- that we should go slow
-on account of the war, so as to scare
people. It will not work, however,
lor everybody knows that good roads
are the first step to preparedness.

SOCIAL EVENING
The Christian Endeavor social held
at the home of Rev. nnd Mrs. Chrta
Jensen las tFriday' evening was a
success, both financially and socially.
Each member brought fifty cents and
told how they earned it In poetry. The
reading of the poems caused lots cf
merriment, Delbert Bucknum being
awarded first prize and Walter Mount
Joy consolation. Ice cream and cake
we're served.
