J. D. Green has been loading a car
of ties for John B. Robertson.
A bonfire was held at Hammltt
brothers hop yard the last night of
picking there. It was also Matlsons
Spores' birthday. A good time was
had by all.
Miss Jennie Turner of Donna went

Miss Alice Sullivan of San Fran
cisco who has been visiting her moth
er and sister left yesterday for Port-'

Miss Pearl S. Sullivan stayed over;
In Eugene last night in order to have
some dental work done today. j
Miss Lela Hennis who entered the
jBewing club project' last spring; com
pleted all ten Wesson's and entered her
exhibits at the' county fair -winning
first prize. Miss Hennis Is feeljng very
'enthusiastic over the prize that will be
-awarded as it Is a trip to the state
.fair.
Warren Price had quite an accident
yesterday while motoring over to the
Fair grounds. Just as he went to turn
a corner another car turned at the
same time and In order to avoid a col
lision Mr. Price steered his car upon
the curbing and was stopped by a
telephone pole. The damage to tho
car was considerable, but none of the
passengers were injured.
Five of the Marcola high school girls
left Friday morning for the fair where
they entered the cooking contest. They
returned that night feeling happy over
having won first prize. Those taking
part in the contest were: The Misses
Lela Hennis, Lottie McMurry, Jennio
Turner, Pearl Sullivan and Audrey
Lewis.
