The Why of Dollar Day
There is an economic waste In every individ
ual merchant in town staging his own special
sale at different times during the year. Why?
Well this one merchant must take it upon himself
to tell all of the people in the community of the
bargains he Is going to offer at a stated time. Ho
muBt pay the whole cost of advertising, ppstago
-and all of the paid publicity matter that is used.
t Tills is a large item in the cost of staging a; special
" "Sale. Then the buyers who want to take advant
'age of these good bargains muBt come to town
each time there is a different special Bale and
.purchase the things they want
Just consider the saving that, is made when all
of the merchants in town get, their heads together
and stage one big sale on one day when every
merchant Is giving bargains to the buyers. The
cost of advertising to each merchant is much
smaller, and the buyers can come 1o town and buy
a great variety of goods and save money over the
regular prices. It is not necessary for the farmer
to make several trips to town on bargain days and
he saves the time it takes to make several trips
as well as the money he would spend in paying the
regular prices for merchandise.
Dollar Day is planned for the mutual benefit
of the buyer as well as the Beller. The merchant
wants the dollars and' the buyer wants the bar
gains. There is always an effort made to please
the customers and there Is no pretense at trying
to hoodwink the public.
