FOREST SERVICE BEGIN NEW TRAIL AT OAKRIDGE Government Crew at Work Changing Willamette River by Putting In Wing Dams A new 15 mile trail is being built by the forest service, on the south side dr the Willamette rover from Oak ridge. The new trail, which is the first to be made on tho south side ot the river, leaves the river near the J. B. Hill's place, follows along a ridge to' the Holland Meadows. The. trail crew may construct another trail this season, which will start from a point opposite Oakridge, following along the south side ot the river and Joining the trail, now being constructed, near the J. B .Hill's place. The channel ot the Willamette river Is being changed by a government crew below the J. B. Hill's place and the work is progressing nicely. The river is being turned back into the old channel by means of throwiug In wing dams and cutting away the drift, which ias changed the river from Its former course. This change is 16 prevent the further encroaching of the river upon the wagon road.
