He stated he would file a motion for a re hearing. When some of the councilmen objected to this, he stated that the matter was one entirely within the power of the attorney. The council discussed again tho matter of putting -the city attorney on a fee basis, and the mayor stated he would investi gate as to what -would be rea sonable fees for the various items of work the city would require. A doctor was hastily summoned and found that death had been caused by apoplexy of tho brain. There had not been even the slightest struggle, but she lay as one peacefully asleep. Mrs. Gibbs was born in Ten nessee, on October 20. 1854. She leaves a husband, J. C. Gibbs and two daughters, Mrs. Fanny Cornelius and Mrs. Aaka Jack son, both of Springfield. Mrs. Gibbs had but recently moved here from Cannyonvllle, Oregon, Where sho had lived for many years.
