Having been aroused to the j necessity of fighting tho fire blight in orchards by tne discov ery of this pest in several parts of Linn county, by C. E, Stewart, county fruit Inspector of Lane, tho'-fruit growers of Lirin have asked 'the" county court to hire an expert to have charge of the battle against the disease. The matter will be taken up with the county court at its next regular session this week, with a view of securing the necessary appro priation. County Judge Mc Knight says that the court will be glad to co-operate In the mat ter, providing it is feasible. In the event the court gets behind the movement, it will be left to that body to choose the expert.
