Life of Pi, a musical based on the novel by Yann Martel that sold more than 15 million copies and became a worldwide phenomenon, is bringing its national tour to Portland’s Keller Auditorium from April 8 through 13. The musical tells the story of a 16-year-old boy named Pi who survives a shipwreck in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on a lifeboat with four others — a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger. Pictured on the left is Taha Mandviwala, who plays Pi. On the right is “Richard Parker,” played by puppeteers Anna Leigh Gortner, Shiloh Goodin, and Toussaint Jeanlouis. See story on page 11.
