Ponyo, celebrated animator Hayao Miyazaki’s tale about the adventures of a five-year-old boy and a goldfish princess who longs to become human, is screening April 7 and 8 as part of the Hol- lywood Theatre’s Hayao Miyazaki series. Miyazaki is known for his themes of pacifism and environmentalism, as well as for stories featuring strong female characters. The series, which begins April 5 with Princess Mononoke and ends April 28 and 29 with My Neighbor Totoro, features screenings of eight of Miyazaki’s best films. (1997, 134 minutes) Spirited Away April 6, 7:30pm & April 7, 4:00pm The first foreign film to ever win a best animated film Oscar, Spirited Away focuses on a young girl who is whisked away to a magical bath house, where gods and other nonhuman beings come to refresh, relax, and recharge.
