Many community groups and
organizations are holding events in
celebration of the Lunar New Year.
Following are some events held
in Oregon and Washington.
“New Years All Year Round”
Through July 1, 10am-5pm (Tue-Sun), Wing Luke
Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience (719 S
King St, Seattle). View a fun, family-friendly exhibit that
looks at Khmer, Chinese, and Korean-American New

Chinese New Year Cultural Fair
Feb 10, 10am, Oregon Convention Center, Exhibit Hall

Celebrate the Year of the Dog at the 2018 Chinese New
Year Cultural Fair. The daylong event includes
traditional and contemporary Chinese cultural activities,
including lion and dragon dances, martial arts
demonstrations, Chinese folk dance and music, and

Lunar New Year at The Wing
Feb 10, 11am-5pm, Wing Luke Museum of the Asian
Pacific American Experience (719 S King St, Seattle).
Celebrate the Year of the Dog at the Wing Luke Museum
of the Asian Pacific American Experience. The event
includes access to the “New Years All Year Round”
exhibit, which highlights Khmer, Chinese, and Korean-
American traditions and celebrations; a lion dance
(11:00am); and Lunar New Year activities such as games,
a stuffed petting zoo, a zodiac scavenger hunt, crafts, and

Chinese New Year gala
Feb 10, 3-5pm, West Linn High School, Auditorium
(5464 West A Street, West Linn, Ore.). Enjoy music,
dance, singing, martial arts, and more at a Chinese New
Year gala presented by the Confucius Institute at
Portland State University and its community partners.

NEW YEAR PARADE. A mile-long Lunar New Year parade is taking place February 17 at 11:30am. The event starts at the Chinese Consolidated
Benevolent Association (N.W. Davis Street & Third Avenue) with fireworks and lion dances. The parade marches through downtown Portland to the Or-

VCA Chinese New Year

Tet Festival at Seattle Center

Year — presented by Seattle Center Festál in partnership
with Tet in Seattle. Tet Festival 2018 ushers in the Lunar
New Year with lion dances, performances, food, a
children’s area, cooking demonstrations, workshops, a
fashion show, a health fair (Sunday), visual arts, a
Vietnamese spelling bee (Saturday) and a knowledge bowl

Lunar New Year at Hing Hay Park
2018 is the
Year of the Dog
Chinese New Year celebration at Lan Su
Feb 16-Mar 4 (daily), 10am-4pm, Lan Su Chinese
Garden (239 NW Everett St, Portland). Ring in the
Chinese Lunar New Year — the Year of the Dog — with a
series of activities, performances, and more at the Lan Su
Chinese Garden. Festivities kick off February 16 with
hong bao (lucky red envelopes), “Rolling in the Wealth,”
and more. Other activities during the two-week
celebration include lion dances every weekend, lantern
sculptures, a Year of the Dog fair (February 17 & 24),
cultural performances, calligraphy, family-friendly craft
