Refugee Dreams Revisited

Refugee Dreams Revisited, a performance by
local Asian and Pacific Islander youth of true
local stories of the sacrifice and resiliency of
more than 25 former Vietnamese, Lao, Hmong,
Mien, and Cambodian refugees who were inter-
viewed a decade ago for the Crossing East radio
series. Portland was one of the medium-sized
U.S. cities that experienced the relatively sud-
den influx of every major ethnic group of people
who were displaced from Vietnam, Cambodia,
and Laos in the years following the Fall of Sai-
gon in April 1975. The performances are fol-
lowed by a panel discussion with former refu-

Asian Heritage Month events
at Lan Su Chinese Garden
Through May 31 (daily), 10am-7pm, Lan Su
Chinese Garden (NW Third Ave & NW Everett

activities, and performances celebrating Asian
and Pacific Islander culture throughout the
month of May, which is Asian Heritage Month.
