Amy Vo, the daughter of Hung Vo and
Trinh Truong, is a senior at Beaverton
High School. Amy stays involved at her
school as a key-club officer, a peer tutor,
and an organizer and vice president of the
Japanese Club. For a school group called
Becca’s Closet, she and a fellow student
created the organization’s first website.
Off campus, Amy also attended the annual
Asian American Youth Leadership
Conference. She plans to study business
information systems at Oregon State
University.

Tuyen Ta, the daughter of Hung Ta and
Phuong Thuy Hoang, is a senior at
Parkrose High School. She serves as the
sports editor for her school newspaper, is a
member of the swim team and other school
organizations, and volunteers as a lobby
liaison and patient escort at both
Adventist Health and Providence Health
& Services. Among her many activities,
she also finds time to watch over her
younger sister. Tuyen will take course-
work in biochemistry at Portland State
University in the fall.

Emily Duong, the daughter of Hien
Duong and Amy Huynh, is a senior at
Battle Ground High School. Emily is active
in school, including serving as vice presi-
dent for Health Occupations Students of
America and Interact Club, playing
basketball and track and field, and more.
In addition to helping care for her younger
siblings, she has also been a student at Our
Lady of Lavang parish for more than a
decade. Emily plans to pursue nursing
studies at Washington State University
Vancouver.

Hoa Nguyen

Hoa Nguyen, the daughter of Tam
Nguyen and Nga Tran, is a senior at St
Mary’s Academy. Hoa is actively involved
with the Rose Choir, Asian Heritage Club,
and Human Rights Club at school. She also
has logged many hours each summer at
the Multnomah County Library serving as
a reading assistant as well as a counsellor
at two different camps, including serving
as a peer mentor at the Tender Loving
Care - Think ’n’ Try (TLC-TnT) camp. Hoa
plans to study biophysics and biochem-
istry at Oregon State University.

Cecilia Wong
Asian-Pacific Cultures Business
Resource Group at PGE ($2,000)
Cecilia Wong, a senior at Franklin High
School, is the daughter of Wong Lap Kei
and Lee Pui Mei. Some of Cecilia’s
activities include serving as a member of
the Red Cross Club, Franklin High
Chinese Club, National Honor Society,
and API Leaders for the Liberation of
Youth (ALLY), as well as participating in
cross country and track and field. In
addition, along with her sister Rosemarie,
she has spent eight hours per month for
three years helping out at the Asian
Health & Service Center. Cecilia will
attend the University of Oregon to study
business administration.

Rosemarie Wong

Rosemarie Wong, the daughter of Wong
Lap Kei and Lee Pui Mei, is currently a
freshman at the University of Oregon. In
addition to training for and currently
serving as a first-aid responder in the
Eugene area, she spends time as a
participant with the Language Circle
Program and as a tutor and conversation
partner. Alongside her sister Cecilia,
Rosemarie volunteered eight hours per
month for three years providing assistance
at the Asian Health & Service Center.
Rosemarie is studying human physiology.
