View The Fujita Collection, a photo exhibit about Japanese fighter pilot Nobuo Fujita. Fujita was the pilot who dropped the first bomb on United States soil, just west of Brookings, Oregon, during World War II. In his later years, Fujita became a pacifist and reached out to the town. In the 1990s, he donated $1,000 to the Brookings Public Library with a request that the funds be used to create a collection of children’s books about other cultures.
