However, tw o or three things ubout the H ouk «' recess resolution are in te r esting, to say th«' leust. In th«- firs t place, th«* Senate properly, I th in k , objected to the resolution because it proposed thut the House b e in recess u n til Sept em ber 21st, com pletely ignoring the fact that appropriations fo r th«- In te rio r D epartm ent, D ef ense D epartm ent and the A rm y Engineers w ould e xpire on the 15th, under a con tin u in g resolut- Shallow Well Pump W ith hundreds o f fa irs now under way in the U nited States, farm ers were advised today to make sure th a t anim als do not b rin g di i-ase hazards home w ith th e ir blue ribbons. A c tu a lly , that action made very little difference to members f>f the House. We w ill recess as planned, but w ill keep in session technically by m eeting and a d jo rn in g each three days. The practical difference is th a t the employees of the Hons«' of Representatives w ill get no vacation and m ust stay on duty. Thus, the peeve of the Senate is taken out on a couple of dozen w eary clerks, reporters, pages, reading clerks and door keepers. Seems to me th a t was a little beneath w h a t is usually referred to as the d ig n ity of the Senate.
