College Adds
Special Courses
This year, Southern Oregon
college is conducting its sum m er
session w ith special em phasis on
courses relating to the work of
the Oregon Shakespearean Fes
tival. The program includes
courses in Shakespeares comedies
and tragedies, other literature
and composition classes, and a
lecture series on various inter
esting aspects of the plays being
done by the Festival this season
Included in thé sum m er facul
ty are Dr. M argery Bailey of
Stanford University, a noted a u
thority on the Elizabethan period,
Jam es Sandoe of the University
of Colorado, who is also directing
two of th e season's plays, and
Douglas Russell of Stanford, who
is conducting a class in Theatre
Costuming, as well as appearing
in several of the plays.
Dance Instruction Begun
The College has also provided
room for a class in dance tech
nique and stage m ovem ent con
ducted by Carol Eller, a student
a t Stanford, and for the rehear
sals of the choral background
music for some of the plays.
This cooperation and encour
agem ent on the p a rt of the col
lege has been greatly appreciatgd
by all of the Festival staff, as a
fine exam ple of the local in te r
est and assistance which has had
