Talent Jamboree
Will Be June25
Talent, June 13 — The Talent
Carnival slated for June 25 is off
to a fyling sta rt w ith five girls in
the running for Queen.
The
Grange members are backing
M ias Delores Momany; the Lions
Club, Miss Joann.1 Houldin; the
Community club. Miss Irene P er
due, the V olunteer Firemen. Miss
Joan Davis; a n d .th e Cam pfire
Girls. Miss Frances Sullivan.
The Queen is to be the girl who
receives the highest num ber of
votes at 1 cent per vote, ten votes
for ten cents, and a chance on a
beautiful blanket
The other four girls will be
princesses and will appear on the
Queen’s float in the parade.
The crowning of the Queen
will take place at eleven o’clock
on June 25 and no one will know
the w inner until the crown is
placed on her head. The celebra
tion will last all day, ending with
a big dance and a draw ing for
the refrigerator
The proceeds from the cele
bration are to go to the Com m un
ity fund to pay to have the play
ground back of the city hall made
ready so the equipm ent which is
already purchased, m ay be put I

coaches and m anagers association
of the Far W estern Conference
Southern Oregon college was
confirmed as co champions of the
conference in football, second in
basketball and tied for third In
baseball Dean Marshall Woodell.
Southern Oregon college faculty

of athletics .attended the meeting
which was held at Davis, C alifor
nia.
The conference decided to pro
vide a trophy replica for teams
losing a championship trophy and
approved appropriate aw ards for
minor sports The conference also
voted to correspond w ith the
N orthwestern Conference to de
term ine the advisability of an]
annual playoff betw een the two
conference cham pionship foot
ball teams in Southern Oregon

Fish Study on
Rogue Continues

Oregon State Game Commission

vice is progressing satisfactorily.

Tagging operations at
Gold Beach were tem porarily in
terrupted for several weeks due to
loss of the trap The trap was re
constructed and put into eperation
again May 26.
A num ber of those fish tagged
in April have been spotted by the
unit’s personnel at Savage Rapids
ad Gold Ray dam. Several angler
caught fish with tags have been
reported
Anglers have been
very cooperative in returning
tags from fish to the game com
mission. Rivers said.
Sportsmen are again urged to
mail tags from angler-caught fish
to the Oregon State Game colli
sion in Grants Pass. For conven
ience. those tags from the lower
river can be turned in at the tag
ging station at Wedderburn. Val
uable Information on distribution
and importance of the fishery to
the Rogue basin are obtained
from returned tags. Anyone re-
turninij'a tag will be returned the
tag for souvenirs and furnished
with all the known information
regarding his fish.
The unit expressed pleasure ov

highly colored plastic disk tags
are being spotted on the fish in
the river. The disks are atached
to the backs of the salmon and
steelhead by means of a pin
