Phoenix, April 26 — The Phoe­
nix grange dinner held Sunday
April 24, at the grange hall was
well attended and the ham and
chicken dinner was served to 210
diners.
The dining room under Mrs.
Chas. Hockersmith and her teen
age girl, was beautifully decor­
ated and the dinner served very
efficiently by the girls.
The kitchen routine was handl­
ed by the HEC staff and in a
very cooperative manner under
the direction of Mrs. Enid Castor
HEC chairman.

Road for a dessert luncheon, on
April 20th
Co-hostesses were

Hendrickson.
A very interesting program was
presented by Mrs. Evelyn Gysin
on Swiss customs and costumes.
Final plans for their Sunday
dinner was discussed.
Mr. and Mrs. Walt Nortridge
were visiting friends in Northern
California Saturday evening.

Glenn Miller, residents of 167
Garfield, Ashland, are now oper­
ating the Rogue Valley cleaners
on Highway 99 in Phoenix.
Mr. and Mrs. Miller have been
in the cleaning business for the
past 12 years They came to Ash­
land during the past year from
Denver, Colorado.
Their shop, which Is located in
the former Phoenix barber shop
building, contains all equipment
necessary for pressing and fin gib­
ing. Mrs. Miller does alterations
and repairing.

How We Licked
The Parking Problem
For a while it looked like we’d
have to put up parking meters.
Folks working in town—Including
some of the store owners—were
taking up all of the space along
Main Street.
Farmers coming in to shop never
found a place to park, and some­
times had to lug stuff a half mile
or so. Some started to do their buy­
ing in other towns. Finally, store
owners and farmers had a get-
together—with the result that the
empty field near the depot was
fixed up for all-day parkers.
Now farmers get their shopping
done comfortably, and the m »
chants have a better place to pagfc
than they had before. Just took a
little friendly co-operstion to make
everybody happy.
From where I sit, moot differ­
ences can be ironed oat by Jwt
talking things over—maybe with a
cup of coffee or glass of h—r_ —4
seeing the other person’s side ef ft.

probably be hard to find a fam ily whose income
has not benefited, in some way, from the money
we’ve spent to provide more service.
