Group Meets For
Pinochle Party
Phoenix, March 9—Mr. and
Mrs. Mervin Hixson, Anderson
creek, were host and hostess to
a group of friends Sunday even­
ing. Pinochle was played by the
following: Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest
Joss, Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Penland,
Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Lewis,
Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hutton, Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Hockersmith.

At the close of the series of
games which will continue for
several more weeks at the homes
o f various people mentioned
above, a dinner will be held at
which time the losers will enter­
tain the winners.
Mr. Keith has purchased pro­
perty on Fourth and Pine streets
from Ella McBeath. He plans to
erect a home there.

cut his hand Monday night while
chopping wood.

Board of Directors
Changes Meeting
Phoenix, March 9—Next meet­
ing of the board of directors and
members of the Phoenix Com­
munity club and Youth center
will be held March 26.
At a meeting held Monday
night the hoard of directors de­
cided to change the meeting date
from the first Monday in the
month to the third Monday.
The building fund presently
has a total of $70.00 in it.. This
has been obtained by member­
ships and dance receipts.
Teen-Age Club Has
Dance Instruction
Phoenix, March 9—The Teen­
age group of Phoenix had their
first dance instruction of a series
of four, Wednesday night, March
2 It was well attended by about
70 teenagers.
They will meet each Wednes­
day night hereafter, their leader,
Ethel Hockersmith reported.
