To lower oneself to name calling does not, in the long run, settle any argument If face it’s usually the best way to end an argument. . . . and be gin a fight. Calling the citizens of this community who have started the re call movement, various derogatory names is not going to settle any problems. This name calling can go too far. And if it continues it will. We’d suggest that the old rule about keeping a civil tongue in one’s head be placed in large letters on a huge sign . . . right in the middle of the Plaza. ★ ★ ★ Utopia President Truman's social security program will develop into a real dog fight before it becomes law. The people who want it be lieve that “cradle to grave” social security is necessary. The people opposed to it feel that the program itself would be dangerously destructive to enterprise and initiative. The government, which will handle the program, will be given vast powers and huge expenditures will be made, both for operat ing personnel and to help the people. The people will be borne, schooled, hospitalized, paid unemployment benefits, pensioned, and buried by government. In order to pay for this program the payroll tax which today is 3% percent will be upped by 1955 to 11 percent and by 1990 it will amount to 18 percent. To make it clear, let us suppose that you make $48000.00 in 1955 You would be assessed $264.00 and your em ployer would be assessed $264.00, making a total of $528.00. This would be used to pay cradle to grave security, for all of us The effect on you and the rest of us would be to level out our incomes through taxation. There would be a rising floor under the minimum income a family can receive and a lowering ceiling on the maximum earnings any of us could keep. 1947 FORD CONVERTIBLE RADIO, HEATER, AND SPOTLIGHT Cute as a best date, this one- Price .$1637. $250 under Blue Book strap black leather flattie gives best-dressed steps to you this season!
