T Ashland, Ore. • Feb. 8, 1949 Editor News Review I am amazed and gravely con cerned regarding the intensity of feeling aroused in this comm un ity. I have associated myself with the recall m ovem ent because I disapprove of the past actions of the present council and because a recall movem ent is the legiti mate instrum ent of the people to express th at disapproval. I have not at any tim e indulged in per sonalities or vindictiveness. However my right to continue to live in Ashland has been pub licly questioned and I feel ju sti fied in publicly answering this. I realize there are rash, im petu ous people on both sides of this controversy. But I'm wondering if being of a different opinion is sufficient grounds to banish me to Siberia or its equivalent.
