And Talent, the school nobody wanted last spring
when consolidation plans were being discussed, is b r

Too bad th a t the consolidation of D istrict 5 which
took place last spring didn’t include Talent. Ashland

BOUQUETS
Some of the folks who are out ringing doorbells and
asking for money for the Community chest should
have orchids.
Each year the same cadre of people w ith a few ad
ditional assistants donate their time to putting over
such charitable projects as the March of Dimes, the
Tuberculosis X-ray project, the Christm as seal sale,
and The Community Chest.
This week the community is being offered a chance
to give to the Community Chest.
Money collected this week will go to the Boy Scouts,
Campfire Girls, Girl Scouts, Salvation Army, Y.M.C.

It’s Your Fight, Tool
Bing Crowley was “beefing” the
other day r.bout all that Our Town’s
doing in the way of sending food
and cloth es to Europe. Bing felt
that th o se struggling dem ocracies
should look after them selves.
But most agreed with Judge
Cunningham who said: “So long
as any family or individual in
Europe is helping hold the line for
freedom—against the forces of in
tolerance— it’s common sense, and
common decency, to help ’em.”
Because that’s everybody’s fight:
To see that individual freedom is
preserved in every aspect, big or
little — whether it’s the right to
vote, or the right to enjoy a tem
perate glass of beer or ale with
friends.
And from where I ait, no liberty's
too sm all to overlook. Because the
minute one sm all freedom la th reat
ened, ail the others are in jeopardy
—just as the minute one sm all
country loses freedom, all its n eigh
bors are in danger!
