2. W e ’ve literally built a city spread over
the W rtt . . . hundreds of new buildings and
major additions. New wire has been strung
. . new cables laid . . . an astounding total of
three m illion miles. And we’re rushing still
more construction— half a m illion dollars
worth, every day — to meet the public demand
for service.
4. Millions of new w ork
ing dollars •. ■ needed to extend
BERT TERRY
and improve service . . . must
come, not from telephone hills,
hoi from thousand* of people who
pm iheir «avings lo work in die tele
phone Inisioess. T o attract these
w orking dollars, we must pay a
reasonable amouni for iheir use.
This depends on the sale of our
services at fair and adequate prices.
70 E. Main
3. An amazing amount of new equipment
of all kinds has gone to work. We’ve filled
three times as many orders as were waiting
on V-J Day. To add these m illion telephones,
we had to get $400,000,000 of new money
from investors. Orders still pour in, and our
job is not yet done. But w e re working at it
mighty hard.
