Those individual property owners who lost ground, merchandise,
and who suffered property damage during the recent wet season have
the sympathy of everybody in the community. W e’re glad to see that
they are all up and about and are planning to rebuild, recoup, and re
conquer. Obstacles placed in the path of the strong only serve to
strengthen.

New Home
W ith this issue the News Review has become firmly settled in its
new home. We’ve already published once in the location at j8 East
East Main street, and it seems as though all the equipment, the presses,
the Intertype, and the staff were happy about the move.
W e’ve a bit of elbow room and now we’re able to draw a deep
breath without having to step outside.
We hope you’ll all drop in and pay us a visit. W e’ve got lots of
things in mind for our new location, and well keep you informed of
them as time goes on. Right now we’re proud of the special advertis
ing department which we’ve set up for the benefit of our advertisers,
and we re happy about the additional space the editorial department
has, and most im portant of all, we’ve got the space in the mechanical
department to add new equipment i n ? to really begin operating.
We appreciate the help which was offered to us by everyone in
the city, particularly, the offers made by the staff of the Bowdoin
Printing company and the Daily Tidings to turn out any rush work
or any other kind of work which we m ight need during the time our
plant was out of operation.
Though we moved during the holidays we found that the men who
did the moving were glad to help. W e’d particularly like to thank
the men from W hittle Transfer, Yate’s Electric, and Smith Plumb
ing, who aided in getting us moved and set up at 38 East Main, so
that we could get in operation in time to turn out last week’s issue
of the News Review.

Em ergency
There aren’t too many college
graduates in our town. Good honest
thinking, yes...but most folks went
from high school into farming.
No harm in that! But I admire
veterans like Dick Newcomb . . .
who’s 23, but going to college under
the G.I. Bill of Rights. Intends to
be a sheep farm er—but a better-
informed, more scientific farmer,
with more know-how!
And veterans like Dick aren’t let
ting anything interfere. What little
relaxation they allow themselves is
in the form of needed exercise, or
hooks, or conversation and an occa
sional glass of beer with friends.
Seems as if, just by having their
education postponed, they’ve put
a higher value on i t . . . and on
things like temperance (that glass
of beer, for instance), understand
ing, and good citizenship. And
from where I sit, when Dick gets
his sheepskin— he won’t have lost
much time. He’ll be an even better
farm er than his Dad. (Exactly
what Dad w anted!)
