Shortly after this the son w as the
cause of another accident, which
had a sim ilar unfortunate result,
and the drain on the butcher’s re ­
sources brought him to the verge
of ruin.
A few days after the second case
had been settled, he was thinking
over his h ard fate when a neighbor
rushed in with the inform ation that
the butcher’s wife had been run
over by the careless driv er of a
