FOUR LANES.
We’ve been shouting about the need for a good four
lane highway from Medford to Ashland for some time
now. After all, we should do something to protect the
lives of all the Ashland folks who rush over to Med
ford to spend their folding money.
Now we see that the Mail Tribune is beating the
drum for a four lane highway. Maybe they’ve discover
ed the situation discussed in the previous paragraph.
After all, Medford folks should do something to protect
the carriers of that Ashland money, which looks so
pretty in Medford tills.
We still need a four lane highway between the two
towns. Where there’s life there’s hope, and if local
merchandisers really want to get in and sell they might
pick up some of that Medford coin, and there’s a big
trade territory between here and Medford which can
be tapped by either town. And it will be tapped by, the
community which has the most up to date progressive
shopping district.

L1THIA MOTORS

We wonder why the pedestrian protection law which
Frank Van Dyke helped correct at the last legislature
is not enforceable. Van Dyke revamped the old law,
which stated that the pedestrian had the right of way,
to read that if a pedestrian were within a crosswalk
that an approaching vehicle must stop to permit the
pedestrian’s passage.
However, the law must be unenforceable, no one
has yet got around to enforcing it in this community
Once in a while a California driver will come to a
stop and permit a,pedestrian to pass, but most Oregon
drivers are still operating motor vehicles under the
assumption that there is open season on pedestrians
particularly those who are within crosswalks.
Why should this law take up space in statute books
if it is not enforceable.
