Know Your Cotton Laws
Sale of cotton goods was forbid
den in England in 1700 because it
competed with native wool. Long

years ago, cloth began to be made
of cotton. Ancient ruins of Peru,
show that the people who lived in
the Andes made cotton cloth even
before It was manufactured In In
dia. The Pueblo Indians, in what la
now New Mexico grew cotton and
made blankets of it. U. S. produce«
half of the cotton of the world. The
Invention of the cotton gin by Ell
Whitney in 1793 made U. S. the
leading cotton country of the world.'
