Dollar diplomacy it was called during the muck
raking area. This is a time for dollar dipomacy. The
world’s trade is stagnant, and only the infusion of
credits, dollars, and trade can alleviate this stagnant
situation.
If America is to help the world help itself, let’s do it
with business dollars, not with tax dollars.
FRIENDSHIP TRAIN
There are many cities and towns in the nation which
will be by-passed by the Friendship train. We’re sure
that more than a boxcar of foodstuffs and clothing for
Europe could have been collected in Ashland. And the
same is true for many other communities in the land.
Since Charles Luckman’s committee for the conser
vation of food has hardly acknowledged the Friendship
train idea, which was first suggested by Drew Pearson,
we feel as though someone should inform Mr. Luckman
that the Friendship train is not being utilized nearly
as well as it could be.
The idea, which is that all communities throughout
the land contribute their offerings and that these offer
ings be collected in a train and taken across the na
tion, then loaded on cargo ships and convoyed across
the ocean to be given to the people of Europe, is a good
one, it caught on with the people, much better than
Luckman’s high powered Meatless Tuesdays and poul-
iryless Thursday’s ever caught on.
This week many trains are wending their way to
New York. But many more trains should be rolling
down the iron. We are speaking for little towns on the
branch lines which have not had an opportunity to
participate in the Friendship train idea.
Some 50,000,000 Americans would like to join in the
Friendship train movement. Suppose Luckman and his
crew turn some of their abilities into figuring out a
way to route boxcars from the smaller towns and out
of the way places to join a second Friendship Train
movement.

Lots of folks have asked us how come we didn’t have
a parking space like the Twiddlings used to have. C. of
P., C. P. Talent was always willing to give us one, just
like George’s, but we wouldn’t have had anything to
park in the space anyhow. And look at what a blow
it would have been to have to give it up.
The Grizzlies really came back with a bang the other
night to chew up the Tornado from Medford. Local
supporters now feel as though the Booster breakfasts
were worthwhile.
Some folks are finding it rather hard to figure out
any method of making ends meet what with Christmas
just around the corner and income tax time just around
the next corner.
