Sam's a
Matrimony Expert
Sam Abernathy never intended to
be a m atrim ony expert, but he hit
the nail on the head the other day
when he said:
"W h a t m arria ge rea lly needs Is
more open minds and a lot fewer
open mouths.”
Sam may not th in k much of his
missus’ choice of hats or her habit
o f serving watercress and eream
cheese salad. But he keeps his
month shut ( I mean, he just uses it
to eat the salad). And the missus
never criticises Sam’s affection for
that worn-out chair before the Are.
and his mellow glass of bear and
pipe at the end of a long day.
From where I sit, th a t p re scrip

B ut an open m in d — w hether h ’s
applied to a woman’s choice o f
hats, or a husband’s preference fo r
a pipe and a moderate glass o f beer
or tw o — leads to the conclusion
th a t there’s rig h t on both sides.
