their hands, and chew on their teeth as S.O.C. makes
one touchdown after another.
One character we know said the other night at the * - ». .»
S.O.C. Monmouth game. “This is the best lighted fun
eral we’ve ever attended.” Maybe the paid customers
just take it for granted that S.O.C. will win and doesn’t
need any strong support from the bleachers.
This year the students at S.O.C. seem to have plenty
of spirit. They’ve organized a decent cheering section
under the direction of Hollis Hill and they’ve dug up a
Raider Pep band th at’s filled with plenty of pep, but
somewhere between the college group and the cash 2J3 4th St,

customers the spirit bogs down.
Ths year the college has been seeking support from
cities other than Ashland. As an indication of how ™
well it is being received we quote from a Medford resi
dent who attended the Eastern Oregon college vs Raid
er game held in Medford. His words: “Those guys from
Ashland are getting too cocky, they should get beat.”
This indicates that residents of our sister cities aren’t
quite as proud of their Southern Oregon college as we
MFC.
We think that there’s a big job available in this area
for some interested alumni of Southern Oregon college.
The college needs backing, the football' team, a real
