New saw-timber is created by
tree-growth in the American forests
at the rate of 1,000 board feet every
second. Approximately two-thirds
of the area of North Carolina is
forest lands.

proved management the state’s
forests can be made to grow as
much wood as Is harvested annual­
ly for all purposes.
Air Express Increase
Air express observed its 20th an­
niversary this year. First flights
were made in open cockpit ships and
