tree which grows by the Llthia
fountain in Ashland as it looked
in 1870. O ther prints show the
second flagpole which was raised
in the Plaza area by James
Thornton after the first one was
snapped off when a tight wire
perform er was doing his stunt
during the 1860’s. The wire was
