Manufacturers, wholesalers, and other distributors ol goods fell line this week with the Newburyport plan and began reducing prices along with retail merchants throughout the nation. As a measure to coinbat inflation this 10 per cent price cut would have normally had dubious results. 1 lad the small retailers been forced to carry this to per cent drop in prices it would have lasted but a short time and in the end the prices would hase increased back to and more than the original 10 per cent. Now, however, with the distributors and the manufacturers stepping in to slash prices 10 per cent the small retail business man can pass that 10 per cent drop on to his customer, without taking a personal loss. Today’s American imperialistic policy is the first step into a race for w'Orld dominance. The issue is simple- Is the w’orld to become a communist dominated world or it is to become allied with America and the democratic principle. America is presently aiding a minority in Greece, because by demo cratic standards that minority comes closest to meeting our political ideas. And if our politicaT ideas are not spread and fostered and nu rtu r ed about the world, Communist ideas will be forced upon the people of the w'orld. Already sides have been picked for the struggle for World domin ance. There are two main participants, America and Russia. Both are engaged in extending their spheres of political activity. The w'orld is too smaf) for nations to any longer attempt to extend their economic and political borders to the next nation. Extension of economic and political borders today means extension throughout the world of those borders. This is one W'orld. Each day it becomes smaller. There need be no shooting war to determine what nation shall dominate this one world- American diplomats and American businessmen can, by strong and fast measures, secure this one world for America. The securing of a democratic government in Greece is the first major step in making this a democratically dominated world. If our elected representatives and our career diplomats fail to extend the lines of democracy about the world we w'ill lose the struggle and will find world dominance a reality, with Russia doing the dominating, unde mocratic.! lly. * * Stork Brings Boys To Talent Families T alent, May 1—Mr. and Mrs. D ean D orm an are th e p aren ts of a baby boy born A pril 29, in the A shland C om m unity Hospital. C. to help loot the treasury for the benefit of his own state. Too bad that more of the nation’s elected representatives don’t feel the same way. If the good of the nation as a whole was considered each time a legislative measure was passed, the entire nation would benefit.
