Erled Tomatoes in Cream Gravy.
(Serves 61
6 large, rip«- tomatoes
4 tablespoons flour
I S teaspoons salt
5 teaspoon pepper
4 tablespoons butter or substitute
I S eups milk
I S teaspoons granulated sugar
"i teaspoon meat sauee
I S teaspoons prepared mustard
Cut tom atoes In half, crosswise.
S prinkle w ith 1 tablespoon of the
flour, % teaspoon o f the salt and
pepper com bined. Saute in b u tte r
u n til golden brown nnd tender on
both sides
A rra n g e a ll but two
slices on a hot p la tte r.
S tir re
m a in in g 3 tablespoons of flour into
the b u tte r and tom atoes le ft in s k il
let. Add re m a in in g salt and o ther
ingredients. Cook u n til cream y. Pour
over tom atoes and serve at once.
Stuffed Onions.
(Serves 6 to 81
8 onions
1 cup bread crumbs
2 tablespoons tomato pulp
2 tablespoons b u tte r
2 teaspoons parsley, chopped
2 tablespoons pimlento, chopped
2 egg yolks
’4 cup cooked celery
1 teaspoon salt
Wash and peel onions. Cook u n til
s lig h tly soft in b o ilin g w ater. Rinse
In cold w a te r to m ake firm , then
push out centers. Place onions in a
well-greased baking dish. M ix re
m a in in g ingredients together and fill
each onion c a v ity w ith the m ix
ture.
Bake in a hot (400-degree)
oven fo r 20 m inutes.

c u ttin g desired lengths to hang the

balanced e venly on both sides. You
then can smooth out the w rinkles
w ith the b a lls o f the fingers or the
palm o f the hand. A vo id fingernail
contact, how ever.
The use of w eights ra th e r than
pins on the c u ttin g ta b le also is a
big help when w o rk in g w ith plas-
tics. You can All sm a ll sacks w ith
beans o r b o rro w m a rb le s fro m the
youngsters fo r th is purpose.
Use a p e n cil to m a rk o ff heading,
hems fo r cu rta in s o r fo llo w pattern
m a rkin g s. Do not use ta ilo r's tacks
under any circum stances. You can
e asily keep the p a tte rn pieces to
gether w ith o rd in a ry paper clips
and thus avoid te a rin g the fabric.
Tubes o r ro lls of w ra p p in g paper
come in handy, too, fo r you can roll
each cut section over i t in the op
posite o rd e r to the sequence on the
co nstruction c h a rt o f the pattern.
