This does appear to solve yo u r menu planning, but it re a lly doesn't solve a d ie ta ry problem . One of the rules set down by n u tr i tion a u th o ritie s is th a t tw o fru its m ust be included in the d a ily d ie t ary. One of these fru its , p re fe ra b ly the c itru s v a ri- e ty , m ay be w o r k e d in a t b re a k fa s t, b u t • th a t leaves one other fr u it fo r one of the other meals. I f yo u r fa m ily tends to gain w eight easily, serve th is fr u it in its n a tu ra l state — as a fresh apple, pear, clu ste r o f grapes, etc. In this way you w ill not be adding any a d d itio n a l calories by se rvin g the fr u it w ith sugar, cream , syrup, or sny other h ig h ly c a lo ric foods. Should the fa m ily re a d ily reach and a tta in its n o rm a l w eight, you can easily serve fr u it baked w ith sweetening, in puddings o r in cakes. Or, i f you have m em bers in yo u r fa m ily who m u st have ric h e r, sa tis fyin g foods because they w o rk h ard, te rve desserts lik e this fre q u e n tly Oecause they w ill not only gain starches and sugars fro m it, but nlso take in th e ir fr u it re q u ire m e n t. 'Lemon Baked Apples. (Serves 61. 6 medium sized apples »4 cup granulated, brown or maple sugar or honey 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel 3 tablespoons lemon juice 2 tablespoons butter or substi tute Nuts and raisins (optional) Wash and core apples. Place in a baking dish. The la tte r u ro g ra m does not cost any m ore than a haphazard one. but it does g ive you a chance to feel well dressed, and you can never be accused o f looking dow dy around (he house. Since slips, gowns und robes are s till in the lu x u ry class as fa r as consum er goods are concerned, and because sizes are s till a problem w ith lim ite d selection, it m ig h t be a good idea to m ake y o u r own. You probably have old fo rm a ls w hich would m ake up into a ttra c tiv e neg ligees, and it's an easy m a tte r to select a m a tch in g o r h a rm o n izin g fa b ric to m ake up in to a gown. Too m any fa n cy gadgets on them prevent co m fo rta b le sleeping, and also increase the fussing th a t m ust go in to th e ir laundering. I f you are m a kin g co n tra stin g col ored bindings on them you w ill do w ell to baste before you a c tu a lly do the perm anent stitch in g , as there should be no slip-ups w hich w ill cause fra y in g la te r. Lace and ruffles are best applied by hand w ith sm all, ca re fu l stitches. Hide the s titch in g if you re a lly w ant the garm ent professionally turned out. I f you are m a kin g a q u ilte d robe, it's possible to buy m a te ria l a lre a d y quilted. This is then s im p ly cut out according to a pa tte rn and put to gether as instructed.
