Wooden Hangers
I
SILENT SAM
By Jeff Hayes
Wooden or plastic hangers for
clothes are better than wire or card
board bangers. Metal hangers may
rust and stain your clothes, and
cardboard hangers often become
limp. To prevent rust and stains
on garments, remove all pins and
metal ornaments from clothes that
you hang up.
Fall Care for Trees
Trees and shrubs need good fall
care to insure against winter-kill.
Rapid wood-growth in fall and the
failure of the wood to ripen is one
of the common causes of winter in
jury. Do not water in late summer
and early fall but let the new
growth stop and the wood ripen.
However, before the ground freezes,
a thorough watering is necessary.
Soak the soil to a depth of several
feet. Trees and shrubs which are
ripened and enter the winter with
wet feet will not need winter wa
1
ter even when the winter is dry.
Flying Money
The oldest known bank notes are

Black Cat
In the middle ages, a black cat
was believed to be the devil incar
