lege show th at en ro llm en t has in ­
creased over the fall term . Mrs.
W inston, college reg istrar, a n ­
nounced th at n ever before in the
history of the college has this
happened.
Most colleges in th e country
this y ear have rep o rted a slight
loss in w in ter enrollm ent, b u t at
S o u th ern O regon College th ere
are m ore students. The to tal fig ­
ure reached 524 on th e last day
of registration. There are 375 m en
and 149 women. The veterans and
non-vets are evenly divided, n u m ­
bering 262 in each group. New
stu dents at S o u th ern Oregon Col­
lege for the first tim e this w in ter
totaled 66.
The enrollm ent figure for the
w in ter term last y ear (1945-46)
w as 154, w hich m eans th at the
new reg istration total represents
an increase of ab out 340 per cent
- which is by far th e greates p er­
centage increase of any of the
state in stitu tio n s of h ig h er educa­
tion.
Dr. Elmo Stevenson, president
of the in stitu tio n announced th at
th e college still has living q u a rt­
ers available, for m en and women
and stated th a t by n ex t fall faci­
lities of th e college w ill be e x ­
panded to care for a total of 750
students.
