To M a kin g Aprons
Worn dresses, old fo rm a ts made
of organdie, batiste o r o th e r sheer
fa b rics such as c u rta in m a te ria l

m a kin g it o r buying it, and do have
lots of ru fflin g to m ake these g a r

dear to the h e a rt of a young g irl.
a
And another point in fa v o r of
these pastels is th a t if you do m ake
them in to to ts' w ear, you can
alw ays use them w ith a good w hite

It's a good idea to get measure»
m ents o r used clo th in g fro m the

than sewing these little garm ents
w ith lo vin g care, and then find that
they do not fit.
Use m a tch in g thread always and

C h ild re n 's garm ents w ill have to

Washing Tips
Do yo u r m ending before wash
ing, not a fte r it. A tin y hole is
bound to become la rg e r d u rin g
w ashing when it receives some
ra th e r rough treatm ent.
It's easier on the g a rm e n t and
on you. too, i f you wash fa b rics
before they become too soiled.
I f you w ant to avoid h e a rt
ache, rem ove colored trim m in g ,
buttons and decoration, unless
you’ re ce rta in th e y ’ re absolutely
washable.
Soft w a te r saves soap and
washes g arm ents cleaner. I f the
w a te r in y o u r c o m m u n ity is
hard, use a good, re lia b le w a te r
softener.
Add the softener be
fo re m a kin g suds and adding the
clothing.
N ever soak clothes too long.
A fte r an hour o r two, the soil
tends to seep back into ihe g a r
m ent. I t also weakens fa b ric .
N ever take chances on colored
clothes. Unless the label tells
you the m a te ria l is washable,
wash the g a rm e n t separately
and keep it separate w h ile d ry
ing.
Intense heat in the w a te r is
h a rm fu l to a ll fa b ric s in the long
run. D o n 't d ry clothes on top of
