On these foundations rests Klamath Falls, key city o f south-central O regon, seat o f Klamath County, gateway to m ag nificent Crater Lake National Park. Klamath Falls is one o f O regon’s younger cities. It has grown sixfold since 1915, and because its buildings arc modern styled, the city has an air o f vitality and freshness. Visitors find countless attractions in and near the town: the W ild W est Buckaroo D ays each Ju ly, the h u g e lum ber reserves, the sudden, sw ift-m oving clouds which momentarily hide the sun before com ing to rest on Lake Ewauna, the Link River, or Upper Klamath L ake-K lam ath Falls’ innu merable white pelicans returning to their summer homes. GREYHOUND 1. Bill does not prohibit commer cial fishing in coastal streams. It regulates W H EN , WHERE and HOW fish may be taken. 2. Bill actually affects year round employment of very few— perhaps not 25. 3. Bill would save about 9 0 % of our steelhead. (Note: A steelhead is a rainbow that has gone to sea and returns.) 4. Bill does not affect commercial fishing on Columbia nor does it affect the taking of SHAD. 5. Bill No. 312 would assure a fu ture supply of Oregon's No. 1 foodfish, the salmon— and protect Oregon's No. 1 tourist attraction — the steelhead. 6. Bill directs Fish and Game Com mission to conduct studies in order that we may have FACTS with which to manage and safeguard Oregon fisheries. 7. T a x p a y e r s a re now p a y in g $ 1 6 5 ,0 0 0 .0 0 each biennium to maintain fishing for commercial interests. More protection will help rebuild the fishing, thereby reduc ing taxpayers' load. 8. Legislature has triad on two oc casions— 1941 and 1945— to save these fish for YOU and the FU TURE. Now your help is needed to make this bill (3 1 2 ) a law. 9. NO TAXES. This is not a money measure. Rather it would help re duce taxes. ! seasonally engaged in commercial ' fishing of coastal streams, will also 1 result unless the bill is defeated.
