Mrs. C arter was born in S hir-
land .Illinois on M arch 27 ,1854,
and was m arried to Floyd C arter
in 1884 at S hirland, Illinois. They
spent m ost of th eir m arried life
in W isconsin w here Mr. C arter
passed aw ay in 1921.
The deceased is survived by
three daughter: Mrs. L urene Nye,
A shland; Mrs. Coral J. Sabo, K la­
m ath Falls, Mrs. Floy Bedford,
Loyalton, C alifornia; th ree gran d
sons, P au l and S tephen Sabo of
K lam ath Falls, and Jack B edford

In addition to all other state taxes and
excises there shall be levied, collected
and paid each month beginning with the month of July,
1947, a tax of 3 per centum of all the gross income of
every person, firm ^ssociation, co-pai tne. slop or corpora­
tion, residing or doing business in Oregon, derived from
any and all sources excepting such income as is exempted
from state taxation by the constitution a-d lavs of the
United States and except such income as is specifically
exempted in Section 5 of this Act.

For the purpose of this Act t' e term
“gross income” means the gross receipts
of the taxpayer received as compensation for personal
services and the gro ss. receipts of the taxpayer derived
from trade, business, commerce, or the sale of tangible
or intangible property and including interest, dividends,
discounts, rentals, royalties, fees, commissions, bonuses,
or prizes or any other emoluments, however designated,
and without any deductions on account of 1' • cost of
property sold, the cost of m aterials used, labor cost, taxes,
royalties, interest ot discount paid, or c..y c'.’icr ex­
penses whatsoever.
