Is Going Strong

H eckert, bettei know n at G rand
ad, celebrated his 83 m ilestone.
G randad H eckert was horn in
D useldorff, G erm any on the 10,h
of A ugust 1803. He cam e to th«
States with his parents w hen
just a youth and the fam ily set
tied in N ebraska, w here he grew
to young manhood.
A few years after his m arriag e
he brought his wife and family
to Oregon, which was 44 years
ago.
He was an active farm er on hi>
ranch north of Jacksonv ille until
about six years ago w hen he re ­
tired to Jacksonville w here he
still resides. T rue to his farm ing
heritage he still prepares his
garden soil and plants his garden
His wife, Mrs. M innie H eckert
is a patient in the Jacksonville
S anitarium . His six children arc
all living in the surrounding
com m unity. They are, Jo h n of
M edford, A lbert and O tto Heck
ert of Jacksonville. His d a u g h t­
ers are Mrs. Anna W olff of C en ­
tral Point, Mrs. Ella B urnfeil-
and, Mrs. Paul G odw ard of J a c k ­
sonville. F riends and relatives

SCHOOL ELECTION HELD
IN JACKSONVILLE WED.
Jacksonville residents w ent to
the polls on W ednesday to vote on
a special bond issue, designed to
raise funds for adding to the
school building. The bond issue
was for $31,000.00.

class rooms for grade school
students, since the eig h t elem en ­
tary grades are now housed in
but five rooms. In addition, the
fund w ould provide m oney to re ­
model and enlarge the g y m n a­

vide for a m usic room.
