A Christmas Prayer
Most mighty and merciful Father,
As the bell« of the world begin their chimes this Christmas
Day, we thank Thee for the great and manifold bless
ings Thou has visited upon us in this past year, for
the victories over Thy enemies, for the release from
their suffering of the persecuted.
In the trying days of reconstruction and reconversion
which lie ahead, keep us humble, we pray. Bow down
our will in obedience to Thy holy law of love for our
fellow men, no matter what their color, class or creed.
Uplift us in spirit that we many in self-immolation have
courage to use wisely the gifts Thou hast bestowed
upton us, and that we many bring Thy kingdom of
peace and justice for all men to fulfillm ent on this
earth.
Thine is the power and the glory. Grant us the spirit to
follow Thee in our daily lives, down whatever path
Thou may lead us. This we ask in the name of Him
in whose honor we keep Christmas. Amen.

Talent Fire Burns ..
8 Pedigreed Dogs
Eight pedigreed Pekinese dogs
were destroyed in a fire believed
set by an angered customer at
the King Cafe in Talent, Saturday
night.
Seven of the animals were cre
mated in the blaze and the other
died later from burns.
The storage shed in which the
dogs were is a complete loss, Otto
E. King, proprietor of the cafe,
said. A cottage next to the shed
was partially consumed.
The fact that the fire started on
a side opposite a heater in the
shed and that oil was used to in
cite the flame is evidence of in
cendiary origin, Mr. King states.
