Even when it’s raining, we are
"wallowing” in the dust.
I now have more pleasant quar
ters, in a concrete building which
was lormerly a nurses quarters
of a Philippine Hospital—one side
of each room is open, onto a wide
balcony which extends the length
of tiie building. Most of us have
our cots on the balcony. In spite
of the wide eves of the building,
the rain blows in to some extent,
but that is a minor difficulty. Wc
WAC Officers go back and forth
to work in jeeps and the EW’s go
by truck.
Purts of the hospital buildings,
not too badly damaged are still
being used as a hospital. Some of
our officers have visited patients
here who are in a pathetic con
dition from being crushed or
burned, or from other injuries re
ceived during the bombings, and
some terribly emaciated, who still
have not recovered since libera
tion. The report is that these peo
ple suffer silently, without a
word of complaint.

forest service headquarters, Lar

Hollingsworth was one of a
party of five which went on the
lake about 10 o’clock the night of
July 10, and their boat capsized
in a windstorm. After aiding his
companions, three Medford girls
and a Talent man, to reach the
overturned boat, Hollingsworth
disappeared and rescue parties
were unable to find him. Later
dragging operations also failed to
locate the body.
